Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Subsurface storage capacity controls on tree ring sensitivity to precipitation

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
Tree growth sensitivity to precipitation varies dramatically across Mediterranean climate regions, but the mechanisms controlling this variation remain poorly understood.

Phenotypic plasticity of growth ring traits in Pinus hartwegii at the ends of its elevational gradient

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
IntroductionPhenotypic plasticity (PP) could be an important short-term mechanism to modify physiological and morphological traits in response to climate change and global warming, particularly for high-mountain tree species.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Contrasting tree-ring data with fire record in a pine-dominated landscape in the Komi Republic (Eastern European Russia): recovering a common climate signal

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2004
For the period 1420–1960 we contrasted fire events reconstructed at 14 sites distributed over a 50 km x 50 km area in the central part of the Komi Republic (European Russia) with a set of tree-ring width chronologies of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.),

Annular Height-to-Commissural Width Ratio of Annulolasty Rings In Vivo [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2005
Background— A “saddle-shaped” mitral annulus with an optimal ratio between annular height and commissural diameter may reduce leaflet and chordal stress and is purported to be conserved across mammalian species. Whether annuloplasty rings maintain this relationship is unknown.

KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

Impact of Site Conditions Changes on the Tree Ring Records Suitability as Climate Proxies in the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesFloresta e Ambiente
The increment zones width in the xylem of Swietenia macrophylla King was investigated by dendrochronological methods in an undisturbed and a strongly disturbed tropical site near Aripuanã, Mato Grosso, Brazil (10°09’ S, 59°26’W).

Annual streamflow of Jinghe River basin in northern slope of Tianshan Mountains recorded by tree-ring during 1615—2007

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2014
Tree-ring width from northern slopes of Tianshan Mountains is of great potential for hydroclimate reconstruction. Tree-ring width data of Picea schrenkiana from two sites which are located at Jinghe River basin were collected and developed into tree-ring

Variation in Growth, Wood Density, and Stem Taper Along the Stem in Self-Thinning Stands of Sassafras tzumu

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Silvicultural practices greatly improve the economic value of wood products from forests. Stem dimensions, wood density, and stem form are closely linked to end-product performance.
