A simple and sensitive fluoroimmunoassay based on the nanobody-alkaline phosphatase fusion protein for the rapid detection of fenitrothion

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2023
Immunoassay is a powerful tool for the rapid detection of small harmful organic molecules. In this study, a simple and sensitive fluoroimmunoassay (FIA) based on a nanobody-alkaline phosphatase fusion protein (VHHjd8-ALP) and blue-emissive carbon dots ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Mitigating Blast Hazards: Experimental Evaluation of Anti-Shatter Films and Catcher-Cable Systems on Conventional Windows

open access: yesBuildings
In light of terrorist attacks and accidents, the need for structural protection against explosive events has increased significantly in recent decades. Conventional unprotected windows pose a particularly high risk of injury to building occupants due to ...

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

SABTR: semantic analysis-based tourism recommendation

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
Online tourism spot recommendations, as a key component of tourism services, aim to present travel options that align with users’ personal preferences. However, current recommendation systems often underperform due to the sparsity of tourism data and the

Security engineering risk analysis (SERA) [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 3rd International Workshop on Software Engineering Research and Industrial Practice, 2016
In this presentation, I describe how the SEI’s Security Engineering Risk Analysis (SERA) method provides a structure that connects desired system functionality with the underlying software to evaluate the sufficiency of requirements for software security and the potential operational security risks based on mission impact.
