Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

The chronometrics of confirmation bias : evidence for the inhibition of intuitive judgements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Mercier & Sperber (M&S) claim that the phenomenon of belief bias - which they consider to be an archetypal manifestation of a general confirmation bias in human reasoning - provides fundamental support for their argumentative theory and its basis in ...

Real‐world evaluation of interconsensus agreement of risk of bias tools: A case study using risk of bias in nonrandomized studies‐of interventions (ROBINS‐I)

open access: yesCochrane Evidence Synthesis and Methods
Background Risk of bias (RoB) tools are critical in systematic reviews and affect subsequent decision‐making. RoB tools should have adequate interrater reliability and interconsensus agreement.

Hindsight Bias, Risk Perception, and Investment Performance [PDF]

open access: yesManagement Science, 2009
Once they have observed information, hindsight-biased agents fail to remember how ignorant they were initially; “they knew it all along.” We formulate a theoretical model of this bias, providing a foundation for empirical measures and implying that hindsight-biased agents learning about volatility will underestimate it.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Automating risk of bias assessment for clinical trials [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Informatics, 2014
Systematic reviews, which summarize the entirety of the evidence pertaining to a specific clinical question, have become critical for evidence-based decision making in healthcare. But such reviews have become increasingly onerous to produce due to the exponentially expanding biomedical literature base.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Estimating the effect of COVID-19 on trial design characteristics: a registered report

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2023
There have been reports of poor-quality research during the COVID-19 pandemic. This registered report assessed design characteristics of registered clinical trials for COVID-19 compared to non-COVID-19 trials to empirically explore the design of clinical
