Are There Causal Associations Between Obsessive‐Compulsive Disorder and Cardiometabolic Phenotypes? A Genetic Correlation and Bi‐Directional Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In epidemiological studies, obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD) is robustly associated with increased risk of cardiometabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. However, the mechanisms behind these associations are unclear. We conducted genetic correlation analyses to explore shared genetic etiology and

Foraging Populations of Tube Building Termites, Gnathamitermes perplexus (Banks), Associated With Termiticide Experiments in Southern Arizona (Isoptera: Termitidae)

open access: yesSociobiology, 2014
In the southwestern desert region of Arizona, a common non-structure invading species is the tube building termite Gnathamitermes perplexus. It is a valuable species from an ecological point of view due to its role in the decomposition of dead wood in ...

Sex‐Specific Genetic Architecture of ALS: Evidence of a Female Protective Effect?

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Background Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) shows sex differences in incidence and age of onset, yet the underlying biological mechanisms remain poorly understood. Methods We investigated sex‐specific genetic architecture in an Italian ALS cohort with whole‐genome sequencing (1,333 ALS cases, 755 controls).

EFEITO DO INTERVALO DE IMERSÃO E DE INJEÇÃO DE AR NA MULTIPLICAÇÃO IN VITRO DE Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla EM BIORREATOR DE IMERSÃO TEMPORÁRIA

open access: yesCiência Florestal, 2014
The objectives of this study were to evaluate different immersion frequencies (2, 4, 8 and 16 h) and explants supports (filter paper and foam) of a Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla clone inside RITA ® bioreactors; and a ventilation system with ...

CSF‐Compartmentalized Antibody Glycoprofiles in NMDAR Encephalitis Associate with Etiology and Functional Recovery

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To characterize Fc‐glycosylation profiles in patients with anti‐N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate receptor encephalitis (NMDARe) and assess their association with antibody compartmentalization (cerebrospinal fluid [CSF] vs serum), disease triggers (viral, tumor‐related or idiopathic), and 1‐year outcomes.

Direct Organogenesis of Arracacia xanthorrhiza Bancr. (‘Arracacha’) as Affected by Different Gas Exchange Intensities and Temporary Immersion Systems

open access: yesHorticulturae
Micropropagation is particularly relevant to A. xanthorrhiza because this crop is traditionally propagated by crown buds, with very low field multiplication rates and a high incidence of systemic pathogens, whereas in vitro culture enables rapid clonal ...

Relapses, Comorbidities, and Predictors of Outcome in Anti‐GABAA Receptor Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objectives To characterize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesion dynamics, comorbidities, predictors of relapse, and outcomes in anti‐γ‐aminobutyric acid type A receptor (GABAAR) encephalitis, and assess the utility of LIM‐domain‐only‐protein 5 (LMO5) antibodies as tumor markers.

Lysyl Oxidase Reduces Neutrophil Extravasation in Response to P. aeruginosa in an Infection‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.
