Effects of Verapamil and Diltiazem on the Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Rivaroxaban

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2019
Concomitant use of rivaroxaban with non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (non-DHPs) might lead to an increase of systemic rivaroxaban exposure and anticoagulant effects in relation to the inhibition of metabolic enzymes and/or transporters by non-

Brain Abscess Revealing an Undiagnosed Atrioventricular Septal Defect With a Common Atrium in a Young Adult

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Brain abscess is an uncommon but life‐threatening intracranial infection that most often arises from contiguous spread but may also occur through hematogenous dissemination in patients with congenital heart disease. This is usually associated with defects that permit right‐to‐left shunting of septic emboli.

Diagnostic Impact of Liver Biopsy Among Antinuclear Antibody Positive Individuals With Mild Liver Enzyme Elevation

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 1, Page 103-111, July 2026.
In ANA‐positive patients with suspected autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), liver biopsy rarely altered therapeutic management when alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was below 101 U/L and cirrhosis was absent. These findings suggest that biopsy may be safely deferred in this low‐risk group.

Association of SGLT2 Inhibitor With Stroke in Type 2 Diabetes With Diabetic Retinopathy: A Multicenter Electronic Health Record Data Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 5614-5626, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is linked to elevated risks of cerebrovascular diseases. Whether sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) reduce stroke risk in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and DR remains uncertain. Materials and Methods We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the TriNetX Research Network.
