Detection of 16S ribosomal RNA in clinical samples

open access: yes, 2022
Molecular methods can be utilized to detect and identify pathogens that are difficult to culture or even nonculturable. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the most advantaged of the possible molecular methods to recognize pathogens, like bacteria, based on their nucleic acids, RNA and DNA.

A Robust Deep Temporal Causal Discovery Platform for Single‐Cell Gene Regulatory Network Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
scTIGER2.0 is a deep‐learning framework that infers gene regulatory networks from single‐cell RNA sequencing data. By integrating correlation, pseudotime ordering, deep learning and bootstrap‐based significance testing, it reduces false positives and reveals directional gene interactions.

Phylogenetic perspective and the search for life on earth and elsewhere [PDF]

open access: yes
Any search for microbial life on Mars cannot rely upon cultivation of indigenous organisms. Only a minority of even terrestrial organisms that are observed in mixed, naturally-occurring microbial populations can be cultivated in the laboratory ...

OXidative Stress PREDictor: A Supervised Learning Approach for Annotating Cellular Oxidative Stress States in Inflammatory Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
OxSpred, an eXtreme‐Gradient‐Boosting‐‐based supervised learning model, accurately annotates oxidative stress in innate immune cells at the single‐cell level, providing interpretable embeddings with significant biological relevance. This innovative tool revolutionizes the understanding of innate immune cell functions during inflammation and enhances ...

Altered Nasal Microbiota in Sinonasal Tumors: A Comparative Analysis of Malignant and Benign Sinonasal Tumors

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although shifts in nasal microbiota have been well‐documented in inflammatory upper airway conditions, microbiota tumor‐associated alterations remain uncharacterized. This study is the first to compare sinonasal microbiota profiles of patients with malignant tumors (MT), benign tumors (BT), and controls, offering insights into tumor‐

Uncovering Cystic Fibrosis Carrier: Insights From a Heterozygous CFTR‐F508del Rabbit Model

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous inflammatory disorder frequently associated with impaired mucociliary clearance and bacterial infection. Individuals carrying a single cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mutation exhibit partial CFTR dysfunction and are increasingly recognized as being at risk ...
