Regulation of virulence in Francisella tularensis by small non-coding RNAs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Using a cDNA cloning and sequencing approach we have shown that Francisella tularensis expresses homologues of several small RNAs (sRNAs) that are well-conserved among diverse bacteria.

Mosaic Arrangement of the 5S rDNA in the Aquatic Plant Landoltia punctata (Lemnaceae)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Duckweeds are a group of monocotyledonous aquatic plants in the Araceae superfamily, represented by 37 species divided into five genera. Duckweeds are the fastest growing flowering plants and are distributed around the globe; moreover, these plants have ...

Understanding the errors of SHAPE-directed RNA structure modeling

open access: yes, 2011
Single-nucleotide-resolution chemical mapping for structured RNA is being rapidly advanced by new chemistries, faster readouts, and coupling to computational algorithms.

5S Ribosomal RNA genes of the newt Notophthalmus viridescens [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1981
The genes which code for the 5S ribosomal RNA in the newt, Notophthalmus viridescens have been cloned and analyzed. Two types of repeating unit were detected: a major type consisting of a 120 bp coding region with a 111 bp spacer, and a minor type composed of a coding region, a pseudogene, and a 113 bp spacer.

Enterobius vermicularis: ancient DNA from north and south American human coprolites

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2003
A molecular paleoparasitological diagnostic approach was developed for Enterobius vermicularis. Ancient DNA was extracted from 27 coprolites from archaeological sites in Chile and USA.

The emerging roles of ribosome biogenesis in craniofacial development. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Neural crest cells (NCCs) are a transient, migratory cell population, which originates during neurulation at the neural folds and contributes to the majority of tissues, including the mesenchymal structures of the craniofacial skeleton.

Targeting the CMKLR1‐Mediated Signaling Rebalances Immunometabolism State in Middle‐Age Testicular Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In middle age, testicular CMKLR1⁺ macrophages exhibited a pro‐inflammatory immunometabolic profile, mediated by adipose signals associated with high BMI. However, inhibition of CMKLR1 signaling, either through Cmklr1 genetic ablation or treatment with a CMKLR1 antagonist peptide, can reverse this phenotype.

Clustering of bacteria by the triplet composition of 5S RNA [PDF]

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences
The relationship between the structure of nucleotide sequences, the function they encode, and the taxonomy of the host is an important subject of study for molecular biologists and bioinformaticians, as well as specialists in processing big data arrays ...

DNA-methylation dependent regulation of embryo-specific 5S ribosomal DNA cluster transcription in adult tissues of sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We have previously reported a molecular and cytogenetic characterization of three different 5S rDNA clusters in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus and recently, demonstrated the presence of high heterogeneity in functional 5S rRNA.

Evolutionary Dynamics of Multigene Families in Triportheus (Characiformes, Triportheidae): A Transposon Mediated Mechanism? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Triportheus (Characiformes, Triportheidae) is a freshwater fish genus with 18 valid species. These fishes are widely distributed in the major river drainages of South America, having commercial importance in the fishing market, mainly in the Amazon basin.
