Regulation of amino acid-specific transfer RNA's in Escherichia coli
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1969To determine the level of aminoacyl-tRNA in Escherichia coli cells, the cells were incubated with a radioactive amino acid in the presence of chloramphenicol and tRNA was exhaustively extracted from the cells at acid pH to preserve the aminoacyl linkage.

Clustering of transfer RNAs by cell type and amino acid specificity
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1983Procaryotic and eucaryotic transfer RNA sequences are distinct at the 0.5% probability level as demonstrated by permutation testing. Moreover, within each cell type, transfer RNA sequences of different amino acid acceptor classes are distinct at the 0.1% level.

Specific hybridization of amino acid-specific transfer RNA to DNA in Escherichia coli
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1968Abstract The extent of heterogeneity of nucleotide sequences present among different types of Escherichia coli tRNA specific for individual amino acids has been examined by means of the DNA-[ 32 P]tRNA hybridization technique. The kinetic study revealed that methionine-specific [ 32 P]tRNA hybridized with about 5 % of the DNA region involved in the

Amino acid specificity of the transfer RNA species coded for by HeLa cell mitochondrial DNA
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1976Abstract The amino acid specificity of the tRNA species coded for by HeLa cell mitochondrial DNA has been investigated by carrying out hybridizations between amino acid-tRNA complexes labeled in the amino acid and separated mitochondrial DNA strands.

An Escherichia coli isoleucine transfer RNA specific for the codon AUA (tRNA(2Ile) or tRNA(minorIle] has a novel modified nucleoside, lysidine in the first position of the anticodon (position 34), which is essential for the specific recognition of the codon AUA.

Abstract Circular dichroism (CD) spectra of five species of 4-thiouridine containing amino acid-specific tRNA from Escherichia coli were measured in the near ultraviolet region. In the 300–400 nm region, near 335 nm, which correlated with a minor absorption maximum, tRNA II Tyr showed a particular profile of CD having three bands, whereas all ...
