Analysis of RNA cleavage by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry
A method of analysis is presented that utilizes matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) to monitor the kinetics and products of RNA cleavage, by use of a program designed to mass-match observed MS peaks

Lead-catalysed specific cleavage of ribosomal RNAs
Ribosomes have long been known to require divalent metal ions for their functional integrity. Pb2+-induced cleavage of the sugar-phosphate backbone has now been used to probe for metal binding sites in rRNA. Only three prominent Pb2+cleavages have been detected, with cleavage sites 5' of G240 in 16S rRNA and two sites 5' of A505 and C2347 in 23S rRNA ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

In testing whether coronavirus defective viral genome 12.7 (DVG12.7) with transcription regulating sequence (TRS) can synthesize subgenomic mRNA (sgmRNA) in coronavirus-infected cells, it was unexpectedly found by Northern blot assay that not only sgmRNA

Preparation of Small RNAs Using Rolling Circle Transcription and Site-Specific RNA Disconnection
A facile and robust RNA preparation protocol was developed by combining rolling circle transcription (RCT) with RNA cleavage by RNase H. Circular DNA with a complementary sequence was used as the template for promoter-free transcription.

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

RNA methylation by Dnmt2 protects transfer RNAs against stress-induced cleavage [PDF]
Dnmt2 proteins are the most conserved members of the DNA methyltransferase enzyme family, but their substrate specificity and biological functions have been a subject of controversy. We show here that, in addition to tRNA Asp-GTC , tRNA Val-AAC and tRNA

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses with H5 and H7 hemagglutinin (HA) subtypes evolve from low-pathogenic precursors through the acquisition of multiple basic amino acid residues at the HA cleavage site. Although this mechanism has been observed to
