Putative SF2 helicases of the early-branching eukaryote Giardia lamblia are involved in antigenic variation and parasite differentiation into cysts

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2012
Background Regulation of surface antigenic variation in Giardia lamblia is controlled post-transcriptionally by an RNA-interference (RNAi) pathway that includes a Dicer-like bidentate RNase III (gDicer).

Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

RNA Helicase Mediates Competitive Fitness of Listeria monocytogenes on the Surface of Cantaloupe

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2018
Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogen that is implicated in numerous outbreaks of disease (listeriosis) via fresh produce. The genetic features of L. monocytogenes that allow adherence and growth on produce remain largely uncharacterized.

Snf2 family ATPases and DExx box helicases:differences and unifying concepts from high-resolution crystal structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Proteins with sequence similarity to the yeast Snf2 protein form a large family of ATPases that act to alter the structure of a diverse range of DNA-protein structures including chromatin. Snf2 family enzymes are related in sequence to DExx box helicases,

Recent Advances in Virus–Host Interactions, Antiviral Bioactive Compounds, and Breeding for Disease Resistance of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Basic research on the PEDV infection cycle and virus–host interactions advances the development of anti‐PEDV drugs and disease‐resistant breeding and helps strengthen disease prevention and control while reducing economic losses in the swine industry.

p68 RNA helicase - identification of a nucleolar form and cloning of related genes containing a conserved intron in yeasts

open access: yes, 2014
The human p68 protein is an RNA-dependent ATPase and RNA helicase which was first identified because of its immunological cross-reaction with a viral RNA helicase, simian virus 40 large T antigen.

Brr2 RNA helicase and its protein and RNA interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The dynamic rearrangements of RNA and protein complexes and the fidelity of pre-mRNA splicing are governed by DExD/H-box ATPases. One of the spliceosomal ATPases, Brr2, is believed to facilitate conformational rearrangements during spliceosome ...

The helicase XPD unwinds bubble structures and is not stalled by DNA lesions removed by the nucleotide excision repair pathway

open access: yes, 2010
Xeroderma pigmentosum factor D (XPD) is a 5'-3' superfamily 2 helicase and the founding member of a family of DNA helicases with iron-sulphur cluster domains.

Increased plasma microbial tDR‐1 in at‐risk individuals is associated with decreased conversion to clinical rheumatoid arthritis and reduces an in vitro macrophage type 1 interferon response

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Background Microbial small RNAs (sRNAs) can regulate human genes. Higher plasma concentrations of microbial tRNA‐derived RNA‐1 (tDR‐1) were previously associated with lower rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity. This study examined whether tDR‐1 concentrations differ in anti‐cyclic citrullinated peptide‐3 positive (CCP3+) at‐risk individuals (ARI)
