DEAD-Box Helicase DDX6 Facilitated RIG-I-Mediated Type-I Interferon Response to EV71 Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2021
Previous studies have shown that DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp)-box RNA helicases play important roles in viral infection, either as cytosolic sensors of pathogenic molecules or as essential host factors against viral infection.

Machines on Genes: Enzymes that Make, Break and Move DNA and RNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
As the vital information repositories of the cell, the nucleic acids DNA and RNA pose many challenges as enzyme substrates. To produce, maintain and repair DNA and RNA, and to extract the genetic information that they encode, a battery of remarkable ...

Duplex DNA from Sites of Helicase-Polymerase Uncoupling Links Non-B DNA Structure Formation to Replicative Stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Replication impediments can produce helicase-polymerase uncoupling allowing lagging strand synthesis to continue for as much as 6 kb from the site of the impediment.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Architecture of a SARS-CoV-2 mini replication and transcription complex

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
SARS-CoV-2 virus replication and transcription is mediated by the replication and transcription complex (RTC) that is composed of 16 non-structural proteins (nsp). Here, the authors present the cryo-EM structure of a SARS-CoV-2 mini RTC consisting of the

RNF213 Is an Interferon‐Stimulated Gene That Targets Influenza A Virus NP and Activates MDA5 to Restrict Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)

Regulation and mechanisms of action of RNA helicases

open access: yesRNA Biology
RNA helicases are an evolutionary conserved class of nucleoside triphosphate dependent enzymes found in all kingdoms of life. Their cellular functions range from transcription regulation up to maintaining genomic stability and viral defence.

Docking studies of Pakistani HCV NS3 helicase: a possible antiviral drug target.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The nonstructural protein 3 (NS3) of hepatitis C virus (HCV) helicase is believed to be essential for viral replication and has become an attractive target for the development of antiviral drugs.

Glutamine Deprivation Triggers Tribbles Homolog 3 Dependent G‐Quadruplex Resolution to Maintain DNA Repair and Tumor Survival

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glutamine deprivation triggers transient DNA damage yet activates adaptive repair in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. We identify TRIB3 as a stress‐induced nuclear scaffold that associates with DDX5 and G‐quadruplex DNA atBRCA1 andRAD51AP1 promoters. TRIB3 loss increases G4 accumulation, suppresses HR gene transcription, elevates γ‐H2A.X, and sensitizes
