RNA binding proteins (RBPs) on genetic stability and diseases

open access: yesGlobal Medical Genetics
RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are integral components of cellular machinery, playing crucial roles in the regulation of gene expression and maintaining genetic stability. Their interactions with RNA molecules govern critical processes such as mRNA splicing,

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

m6A mRNA demethylase FTO regulates melanoma tumorigenicity and response to anti-PD-1 blockade [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Melanoma is one of the most deadly and therapy-resistant cancers. Here we show that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) mRNA demethylation by fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) increases melanoma growth and decreases response to anti-PD-1 blockade ...

Data‐driven discovery of gene expression markers distinguishing pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia subtypes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

Data on the stability of Prx1-associated snRNAs and mRNAs

open access: yesData in Brief, 2019
This data set is related to the research article entitled “Peroxiredoxin 1 post-transcriptionally regulates snoRNA expression” (Kim et al., 2019). It demonstrates that peroxiredoxin 1 (Prx1) increases the stability of Prx1-associated small nuclear RNAs ...

The anticancer effect of the HDAC inhibitor belinostat is enhanced by inhibitors of Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The pan‐HDAC inhibitor belinostat increases the expression of the pro‐apoptotic proteins Bim, Puma, and Noxa and induces apoptosis in ovarian cancer cell lines and patient‐derived tumor organoids when used at high concentrations. Moreover, inhibiting the anti‐apoptotic proteins Bcl‐xL or Mcl‐1 sensitizes these preclinical models to the cytotoxic effect

The Stability of a Codon Transfer RNA Complex [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1970
Equilibrium dialysis experiments indicate complex formation between the trinucleotide ApUpGp and tRNAfMet, the dissociation constant of the complex being approximately 150 μM. Unfractionated tRNA containing only minute quantities of tRNAMet fails to form complexes with ApUpGp to a detectable extent thus suggesting that the binding ability for this ...

Messenger RNA Turnover Processes in Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Emerging Studies in Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2009
The regulation of mRNA turnover is a recently appreciated phenomenon by which bacteria modulate gene expression. This review outlines the mechanisms by which three major classes of bacterial trans-acting factors, ribonucleases (RNases), RNA binding ...
