Hypertension and Road Traffic Noise Exposure
Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, 2007The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between road traffic noise exposure at home and the prevalence of hypertension. We conducted cross-sectional analyses in a large random sample (N=40,856) of inhabitants of Groningen City, and in a subsample (the Prevention of Renal and Vascular End-Stage Disease [PREVEND]) study cohort; N=8592 ...

Noise is becoming an important issue in the environmental assessment of highways. In The Netherlands, for example, profiled road markings are banned because, despite their contribution to road safety, they generate too much noise. Within Europe, permitted noise levels have been reduced steadily over the last two decades, and it seems that the strict ...

PSYCHOACOUSTIC PROPERTIES OF TIRE-ROAD NOISE AND THE RELATION TO NOISE ANNOYANCE
Inter-Noise 2022, 2022Rolling noise as the interaction between tire and road contributes strongly to the total road noise in particular as engines become quieter due to more strict noise regulations and the emergence of electric motors. Thus, road traffic noise can be effectively reduced by optimizing vehicle tires and the pavement.

Road traffic noise, noise sensitivity and psychological disorder
Psychological Medicine, 1993SynopsisThe relationship between traffic noise exposure and psychological morbidity was assessed using the population-based Caerphilly Collaborative Survey of 2398 men from Caerphilly, South Wales. The findings showed that traffic noise exposure levels were strongly associated with annoyance to noise.

Road traffic noise: self-reported noise annoyance versus GIS modelled road traffic noise exposure
Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2011self-reported road traffic noise annoyance is commonly used in epidemiological studies for assessment of potential health effects. Alternatively, some studies have used geographic information system (GIS) modelled exposure to road traffic noise as an objective parameter. The aim of this study was to analyse the association between noise exposure due to
