The price of anarchy in transportation networks by estimating user cost functions from actual traffic data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We have considered a large-scale road network in Eastern Massachusetts. Using real traffic data in the form of spatial average speeds and the flow capacity for each road segment of the network, we converted the speed data to flow data and estimated the ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Preparation and Properties of Waterborne Polyurethane and SBS Composite-Modified Emulsified Asphalt

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To address the issue of insufficient durability of traditional modified emulsified asphalt in the application of cold mix and cold paving anti-skid wear layers, this study utilizes cationic waterborne polyurethane (PU+) for composite modification to ...

Road Extraction by Deep Residual U-Net

open access: yes, 2017
Road extraction from aerial images has been a hot research topic in the field of remote sensing image analysis. In this letter, a semantic segmentation neural network which combines the strengths of residual learning and U-Net is proposed for road area ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Research on the Properties of Nano-Al2O3- and Nano-SiO2-Modified Bio-Asphalt and Mixtures

open access: yesBuildings
Bio-oil as a substitute or modifier for petroleum asphalt has significant environmental, economic, and sustainable development implications. However, the insufficient high-temperature and anti-aging characteristics of bio-asphalt lead to the limited ...

A two-dimensional data-driven model for traffic flow on highways

open access: yes, 2017
Based on experimental traffic data obtained from German and US highways, we propose a novel two-dimensional first-order macroscopic traffic flow model. The goal is to reproduce a detailed description of traffic dynamics for the real road geometry. In our
