Study on the Control Algorithm of Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) for Commercial Vehicle Based on Identification of Driving Condition

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Automatic emergency braking systems (AEBS) significantly improve the active safety performance of commercial vehicles, but their effectiveness is affected by the vehicle’s driving conditions, which mainly include the vehicle load and road conditions.

Is Space Expansion the Road to Dystopia?

open access: yesEthics & International Affairs, 2023
AbstractThis review essay contrasts two of the most notable recent contributions to literature on space and society: Daniel Deudney's Dark Skies (2020) and Brian Patrick Green's Space Ethics (2022). The Green volume is a course textbook, geared to giving students an overview of some of the key ethical issues concerning space and how the arguments on ...

The Development of Pedestrian Gap Acceptance and Midblock Pedestrian Road Crossing Behavior Utilizing SUMO

open access: yesSUMO Conference Proceedings, 2022
While there are several published studies for modelling pedestrian behavior at signalized crossings in SUMO, the behavior of pedestrians crossing a road at a location other than a designated crossing, has not been considered to date.

Inferring vehicle spacing in urban traffic from trajectory data

open access: yes, 2023
This study presents a new method to infer the average two-dimensional (2D) spacing between interacting vehicles in urban traffic from trajectory data. In this context, 2D spacing reflects the amount of road space consumed by pairs of interacting vehicles,

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Measuring military queue flow parameters

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 1998
A movement order explicitly defines the following parameters: section speed and spacing. During a military queue motorized drive at road network, some deviations between determined and realized parameters are expected.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Transverse Crack Behavior in Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement with Basalt Fiber Reinforcement

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) is a pavement structure with a high performance and long service life. However, the corrosion of the longitudinal steel can result in a poor bond relationship between the steel and the concrete, affecting ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
