The Effects of Detector Spacing on Traffic Forecasting Performance Using Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2001
An investigation was made as to how short-term traffic forecasting on motorways and other trunk roads is related to the density of detectors. Forecasting performances with respect to different detector spaces have been investigated with both simulated ...

MagmaFlow: A desktop platform for artificial intelligence‐driven expression analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MagmaFlow is a free, no‐code platform for gene expression analysis. It generates interactive volcano plots, links genes to literature, pathways, and diseases, prioritizes candidates using millions of publications, identifies affected biological processes, builds network diagrams, and exports publication‐ready figures and reports for macOS and Windows ...

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Is there such a thing as a ‘fair’ distribution of road space? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Urban Design, 2019
In recent years, various reports and studies have provided quantified estimates of the distribution of road space among different transport modes in various cities worldwide. In doing so, and inspired by broader discussions on transport and urban justice, they have sought to point out the unfairness of existing patterns of road space distribution ...

Road and Landing Spacing Under the Consideration of Surface Dimension of Road Landings

open access: yes, 1993
Methodologies are developed for optimal road and landing spacing when considering roads and landing with surface dimensions. Example shows that the width of road and the size of landing do affect the solutions to optimal road and landing ...

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Improving Accuracy in Earthwork Volume Estimation for Proposed Forest Roads Using a High-Resolution Digital Elevation Model

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Forest Engineering, 2012
Earthwork usually represents the largest cost component in the construction of low-volume forest roads. Accurate estimates of earthwork volume are essential to forecast construction costs and improve the financial control of road construction operations.

Spacing And Capacity Evaluations For Different Ahs Concepts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
In this study, the authors consider a family of six Automated Highway Systems (AHS) operational concepts. For each concept, the minimum inter- vehicle spacing that could be used for collision-free vehicle following, under different road conditions, is ...

Decentralized lateral and longitudinal control of vehicle platoons with constant headway spacing

open access: yes, 2023
The formation of platoons, where groups of vehicles follow each other at close distances, has the potential to increase road capacity. In this paper, a decentralized control approach is presented that extends the well-known constant headway vehicle ...
