Shape Programming Using Triangular and Rectangular Soft Robot Primitives
This paper presents fabric-based soft robotic modules with primitive morphologies, which are analogous to basic geometrical polygons—trilateral and quadrilateral. The two modules are the inflatable beam (IB) and fabric-based rotary actuator (FRA).

Synchronisation effects on the behavioural performance and information dynamics of a simulated minimally cognitive robotic agent [PDF]
Oscillatory activity is ubiquitous in nervous systems, with solid evidence that synchronisation mechanisms underpin cognitive processes. Nevertheless, its informational content and relationship with behaviour are still to be fully understood. In addition,

Push-and-Twist Drillstring Assemblies [PDF]
Deep drilling using a rigid drillstring requires the assembly and disassembly of multiple drill pipes. The interfaces between these pipes provide a challenge for automation because they must transmit large drilling forces and movements while, at the same

Online Robot Introspection via Wrench-based Action Grammars
Robotic failure is all too common in unstructured robot tasks. Despite well-designed controllers, robots often fail due to unexpected events. How do robots measure unexpected events? Many do not.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
