Evaluation of a method's robustness

2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2010
In signal processing, it is typical to develop or use a method based on a given model. In practice, however, we almost never know the actual model and we hope that the assumed model is in the neighborhood of the true one. If deviations exist, the method may be more or less sensitive to them.

Robust Bounds for Krylov Methods

BIT Numerical Mathematics, 2000
The authors discuss bounded operators in separable complex Hilbert spaces and present a new approach of convergence analysis of Krylov methods based on some derived bounds for polynomials of operators. The growth of the resolvent function for a linear bounded operator is estimated in terms that are not sensitive to low rank perturbations.

A robust fingerprint matching method

Pattern Recognition, 2005
This paper is concerned with accurate and efficient fingerprint matching. We have two main contributions:(1)define a novel feature vector for each fingerprint minutia based on the global orientation field. These features are used to identify corresponding minutiae between two fingerprint impressions by computing the Euclidean distance between vectors. (

A Robust Shape Decomposition Method

2000
A shape decomposition method for non-elongated figures is proposed. The method allows to obtain structural descriptions that are widely invariant with respect to non-significant shape changes occurring in rotated or noisy instances of a same figure. The detection of the significant parts composing a figure is based on a suitable definition of shape ...
