Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Numerical Investigation of Rock Breaking Mechanisms by High Pressure Water Jet
AbstractMany factors and complexities are involved in breaking rock with a high-pressure water jet, which has made it difficult to explain the rock breaking internal mechanisms. This in turn has constrained the applications and development of water jet technology.

Research on the Hard-Rock Breaking Mechanism of Hydraulic Drilling Impact Tunneling [PDF]
In order to realize the rapid hard-rock tunneling in a safe, highly effective, and economic manner, the hydraulic drilling impact hard-rock tunneling (HDIHT) technology and method were introduced based on the theories of rock mechanics and hydraulic impact. The key parameters, including drilling radius and impact distance, were researched to reveal the

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Plasma-Assisted TBM Cutting Mechanism for Rock Breaking
In the process of tunnel excavation, rocks with great hardness and abrasion are often encountered, which leads to low rock breaking efficiency and serious tool wear. In order to solve this problem, a new TBM cutting mechanism is proposed in this paper. The cutter head is equipped with a plasma torch and a shield cutter.
