An experimental study of the carbonation of serpentinite and partially serpentinised peridotites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In situ sequestration of CO2 in mantle peridotites has been proposed as a method to alleviate the amount of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere. This study presents the results of 8-month long laboratory fluid-rock experiments on representative mantle ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Slant Angle and Its Influence on Rock Cutting Performance

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Rock cutting is an important aspect of the civil engineering, for example, tunnelling. To improve cutting efficiency, it is important to understand the rock failure (fracture) mechanisms and the influences of cutting parameters on rock fracture behaviour.

Research on numerical drilling technology of mesh-like cutting PDC bit

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2021
Numerical simulation on rock-breaking and drilling has been developed as a novel technic for designing and performance analyzing of the bit. On basis of theoretical research and experimental test on the mesh-like cutting PDC bit, the numerical model of ...

Rock sampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
An apparatus for sampling rock and other brittle materials and for controlling resultant particle sizes is described. The device includes grinding means for cutting grooves in the rock surface and to provide a grouping of thin, shallow, parallel ridges ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Experimental study on the influence of cutting distance on the rock-breaking features of pick-shaped cutter

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2023
The pick-shaped cutter is the most widely used cutter type in mining machinery such as roadheader and coal mining machine. In the actual cutting process, the pick-shaped cutter mainly works under the multi-tooth coupling cutting condition.

Preparing rock powder specimens of controlled size distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Apparatus produces rock powder specimens of the size distribution needed in geological sampling. By cutting grooves in the surface of the rock sample and then by milling these shallow, parallel ridges, the powder specimen is produced.
