Rod‐rod interaction in the retina of the turtle. [PDF]
Intracellular responses were recorded from rods in isolated eye‐cups of the snapping turtle, Chelydra serpentina. Responses to small and large diameter spots of 500 nm light were studied. 1. The peak amplitudes of responses smaller than approximately 2 mV were directly proportional to irradiance.

Noise removal at the rod synapse of mammalian retina [PDF]
Mammalian rods respond to single photons with a hyperpolarization of about 1 mV which is accompanied by continuous noise. Since the mammalian rod bipolar cell collects signals from 20–100 rods, the noise from the converging rods would overwhelm the ...

Limit and shakedown analysis of RC rod cross‐sections
This paper presents the calculation of the cross‐section of an RC rod element strength under the quasistatic low‐cyclic loadings, considering the non‐linear stress‐strain relations of materials without cracks.

Comparing the Rod-Like and Spherical BODIPY Nanoparticles in Cellular Imaging
To design efficient nanoparticles for bioimaging, it is necessary to obtain nanoparticles with desired cellular uptake and biofunction. There are many studies have shown that cellular uptake largely depends on the geometric properties of nanoparticles ...

Rod and Cone Connections With Bipolar Cells in the Rabbit Retina
Rod and cone pathways are segregated in the first stage of the retina: cones synapse with both ON- and OFF-cone bipolar cells while rods contact only rod bipolar cells.
