Optimization of winding conditions considering web thickness variation in width direction and experimental verification

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2015
The webs such as paper, plastic film and thin metal are produced by Roll-to Roll manufacturing system, and are wound into a roll in the final process of this system.

Response mechanism of matrix microstructure evolution and mechanical behavior to Mg/Al composite plate by hard-plate accumulative roll bonding

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
In the traditional accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process of heterogeneous composite laminates, due to the excessive strain caused by accumulative roll bonding, many problems such as reduction of plasticity and cracks on the edge of composite plates ...

URANSE-Based Numerical Prediction for the Free Roll Decay of the DTMB Ship Model

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
In the present study, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to investigate the roll decay of the benchmark surface combatant DTMB-5512 ship model appended with bilge keels, sailing in calm water at different speeds (Fr = 0.0, 0.138, 0.2, 0.28 and 0 ...

Rebound control in multipass roll forming of cap-shaped parts based on segmental boundary optimization function

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
Bending angle is an important parameter in multi-pass roll forming. However, in actual manufacturing, there is still a lack of theoretical guidance; hence, rebound defects are commonly observed.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Measurement of actual stress and temperature on the roll surface during rolling. (Frictional stress distribution and pressure distribution in cold rolling).

open access: yesJSME international journal. Ser. 3, Vibration, control engineering, engineering for industry, 1989
Pressure, and frictional stress in both rolling and width directions have been measured in the cold rolling of aluminum strip and billet by a new stress sensor developed by the authors. Characteristics of the frictional stress distribution in cold rolling have been elucidated.

Effect of Implementing a Dashboard With or Without a Best Practice Alert on HLA‐B*58:01 Testing Rates Among Allopurinol Users at VA Medical Centers

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The American College of Rheumatology recommends HLA‐B*58:01 allele testing before the initiation of allopurinol, specifically among Asian and African American/Black patients, due to their increased risk for severe hypersensitivity reactions. However, testing rates remain low at many health care facilities.

Enigmatic surface rolls of the Ellesmere Ice Shelf

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2022
The once-contiguous Ellesmere Ice Shelf, first reported in writing by European explorers in 1876, and now almost completely disintegrated, has rolling, wave-like surface topography, the origin of which we investigate using a viscous buckling instability ...

Understanding the Burden of Orofacial Involvement and Patient Treatment Preferences in Systemic Sclerosis: Results From a Large International Survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Orofacial manifestations are significantly impactful in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) yet remain understudied, with no dedicated clinical guidelines to inform their management. Methods An international online survey comprised38 questions addressing orofacial manifestations of SSc, including patients’ confidence in their treating ...
