Research on formation mechanism and nozzle parameter optimization of residual stress in hot rolling mill rolls based on multi-field coupling

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The residual stress distribution in the rolls during the hot rolling process is a crucial factor that affects the roll profile and service performance, and consequently influences the quality of the rolled products.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Analysis of Metal Flow Behavior and Residual Stress Formation of Complex Functional Profiles under High-Speed Cold Roll-Beating

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
To obtain a good surface layer performance of the complex functional profile during the high-speed cold roll-beating forming process, this paper analyzed the metal plastic flow and residual stress-formed mechanism by using a theoretical model of the ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Analysis of rate dependency on roll force calculation during hot strip rolling based on Karman equation

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
Due to the development of thin slab hot rolling technology, hot rolling thin strip at a higher speed is inevitable. As a result of high-speed rolling, thin slab is deformed at a wide range of strain rate inside the rolling zone.

Characteristic points of roll contact curves of a two-roll module [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Calculation formulas for finding characteristic angles that determine characteristic points of roll contact curves are obtained. It is established that external forces acting on the roll, the angular velocity of the roll, the feed rate of the material ...

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...
