Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Friction power loss of continuous sine tooth profile planetary reducer

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
In this paper, a sine tooth planetary reducer with one tooth difference is proposed. For the proposed reducer, the equations of the oil film thickness, the meshing sliding and rolling friction power loss, and the friction power loss of the bearings for ...

Thermo‐Mechanically Recyclable Smart Textiles from Circularly Knitted Liquid Crystal Elastomer Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.

Establishing the Rolling - Friction Coefficient for Different Contacts Between Balls and Termochemicallly Treated Steel Rolling Paths

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2014
Within the frame of this work, the influence of four very well-known and often used thermochemical treatments (carburizing, carbonitriding, nitriding and nitrocarburizing) of steel rolling paths applied on rolling-friction coefficient has been studied ...

Theory of Rolling Friction

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1961
There are several hypotheses on the mechanism of rolling friction, but they are not recognized as an established theory. Authors recently reported the experimental research on the high speed rolling friction and clarified the many characteristics which cannot be expounded by the former hypotheses.

A new analytical approach for the velocity field in rolling processes and its application in through-thickness texture prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A new analytical model is presented that expresses kinematically admissible velocity fields in rolling processes. Opposed to conventional streamline approaches, the current model does not force the material to flow along the prescribed lines, but ...

Considerations on finding the rolling and spinning friction coefficients

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The complex motion from a point contact has as consequence the occurrence of a friction torsor within both spinning and rolling friction exist. Additionally, recent researches showed that the two friction moments, spinning and rolling torques, are not ...

Apparatus and method for inspecting a bearing ball [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A method and apparatus for inspecting the surface of a ball bearing is disclosed which includes a base having a high friction non-abrasive base scanning surface. A holding device includes a cone-shaped cup recess in which a ball element is received.

Rolling and sliding of a nanorod between two planes: Tribological regimes and control of friction

open access: yes, 2012
The motion of a cylindrical crystalline nanoparticle sandwiched between two crystalline planes, one stationary and the other pulled at a constant velocity and pressed down by a normal load, is considered theoretically using a planar model. The results of
