On Rolling Resistance in Gear Transmission

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2015
The effect of rolling resistance on the power loss during gear transmission has been studied. The resistance has been modeled by a lateral shift of the line of action of the contact force. The effect of this shift on the equivalent friction force has been predicted with the help of a six degrees of freedom (DOF) model of a spur gear pair. The predicted

Rolling Resistance of Tires

2019
The rolling resistance (RR) of a tire depends on three factors: (i) the energy loss of rubber and reinforcements due to the cyclic deformation of the rolling tire, (ii) frictional energy in the contact area and (iii) the air resistance of the tire.

A Study on Minimum Rolling Resistance

Tire Science And Technology, 2012
ABSTRACT: Tire rolling resistance has been a topic of study since the invention of the pneumatic tire. There is currently a heightened interest in this topic because of the need to minimize fuel consumption of vehicles and the introduction of regulations regarding both the maximum allowable rolling resistance and consumer labeling for rolling ...

About The Rolling Resistance Trailer And Parameters Influencing Rolling Resistance

2014
The issue of global warming by an excessive amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is a hot topic and the consequences for man and environment become more and more clear. Road transportation plays a significant role in CO2 emission and unlike other sectors, its emission has even increased the last years. To stop this trend, different measures

Measuring and modeling of rolling resistance

2018
Limited resources and the higher awareness of the influence of CO2 emissions on global warming have led to stricter legal regulations. The aim of 20 % cut in CO2-emissions until 2020 compared to levels of 1990 was declared by the European Union [1]. Transportation has a share of 26 % on these emissions.

Resistance to rolling of a ball on a plane

Journal of Machinery Manufacture and Reliability, 2007
Rolling of a ball on a plane is considered in the case of loads causing plastic deformations. Resistance to rolling is considered to be a consequence of the work spent on deformations. Formulas for calculating the factor of resistance to rolling are proposed. Calculated results are confirmed by experimental data obtained for single and multiple rolling.

Rolling resistance modelling

2019
In this study, a rolling contact model is proposed for quantifying the part of rolling resistance originating from hysteretic energy dissipation at the interface between a viscoelastic solid and a rigid surface. A viscoelastic half-space assumption is made and a 3D time dependent algorithm is used to solve the problem.
