Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Refrigerant-Side Instrumentation in Room Air-Conditioners

open access: yes, 1996
A refrigerant-side instrumentation system has been developed, installed, and utilized to obtain steady-state data from a 1.5-ton capacity room air conditioner for the continued validation of a simulation model.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Development and Validation of a Room Air Conditioning Simulation Model

open access: yes, 1997
"Component submodels for a room air conditioner computer simulation were developed and validated using data from a 1.5-ton room air conditioner. The room air conditioner was tested over an extremely wide range: both indoor and outdoor temperatures varied

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Research on Key Parameters of a Building-Load Model for Dynamic Performance Measurement of Air Conditioner

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
Given that measurements made under steady-state laboratory conditions cannot fully reflect the actual performance of air conditioners, the dynamic measurement of room air conditioner performance based on virtual buildings has become a research hotspot ...

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Drop-in Performance of Low GWP Refrigerants in a Heat Pump System for Residential Applications

open access: yes, 2012
R410A is one of the main refrigerants used for air conditioning and heat pump systems in residential applications. It has zero ozone depletion potential but its global warming potential is about 2,000. In China and Japan, refrigerant R32 (GWP = 675, zero
