A new glass ionomer root canal sealer
Journal of Endodontics, 1991Various physical characteristics of a new glass ionomer root canal sealer were tested. These included setting time, ease of delivery to the root canal, adaptability and adhesion to the dentinal wall of the root canal, and radiopacity. Scanning electron micrographs and electron microprobe analyses were made.

Physical Properties of 5 Root Canal Sealers
Journal of Endodontics, 2013The aim of this study was to evaluate the pH change, viscosity and other physical properties of 2 novel root canal sealers (MTA Fillapex and Endosequence BC) in comparison with 2 epoxy resin-based sealers (AH Plus and ThermaSeal), a silicone-based sealer (GuttaFlow), and a zinc oxide-eugenol-based sealer (Pulp Canal Sealer).ISO 6876/2001 specifications

[In vitro evaluation of five root canal sealers].
Minerva stomatologica, 2003An adequate film thickness is an important property of an endodontic sealer, when used in combination with gutta-percha, to eventually fill minimal voids between gutta-percha and the root canal walls, ensuring an hermetic three-dimensional root canal obturation. The goal of the present study was to evaluate the film thickness of the following five root

The effect of temperature on viscosity of root canal sealers
International Endodontic Journal, 2006AbstractAim To test the hypothesis that there was no significant (α = 0.05) change in viscosity of commercially available root canal sealers with increase in temperature using a high‐performance Advanced Rheometric Expansion System (ARES) rheometer.Methodology Materials tested were Apexit, Tubliseal EWT, Grossman's, AH Plus and Ketac‐endo.

Cytotoxicity evaluation of six root canal sealers
Journal of Endodontics, 1995Cell cultures of human gingival fibroblasts obtained from healthy patients were used to evaluate the toxicity of six different endodontic cements: AH-26, Pulp Canal Sealer, Rocanal-R2, Rocanal-R3, Bioseal, and Endomethasone. The toxicity was determined by measuring spectrophotometrically at 405 nm the colorimetric reaction of N-acetyl-beta ...

The influence of root canal shape on the sealing ability of two root canal sealers
International Endodontic Journal, 2006AbstractAim To evaluate the influence of root canal form on the sealing ability of two root canal sealers.Methodology Twenty radiographically confirmed straight and 20 curved root canals were prepared with a stepback hand filing technique. Root canal aberrations created during preparation were determined by the use of double exposure radiographic ...

Solubility and desintegration of root canal sealers
Dental Materials, 2014Purpose: To evaluate the bond strength of epoxy resinand methacrylate-based sealers to root dentin, using the “Material Testing Stage” (MTS) coupled to a micro-computed tomography ( CT) device, and to assess the percentage of misfit between the filling material and the root canal walls, by confocal laser microscopy.

Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has been recommended for pulp capping, pulpotomy, apical barrier formation in teeth with open apexes, repair of root perforation and root canal obturation. Since, its introduction in 1993 by Torabinejad numerous studies have been published regarding various aspects of this material.

Antibacterial activity of root canal sealers [PDF]
The aim of this study is to determine antibacterial activity of the root canal sealers in direct contact with Eschericia coli, Serattia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The IRM and Epiphany had the greatest antibacterial efficacy against E.coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus and S. marcescens.
