Interacted Effect of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Polyamines on Root System Architecture of Citrus Seedlings

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2012
Either arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) or polyamines (PAs) may change root system architecture (RSA) of plants, whereas the interaction of AMF and PAs on RSA remains unclear.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Melatonin: a multifaceted regulator of root development, stress responses, and hormonal crosstalk in horticultural crops

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Melatonin is increasingly recognized as a multifunctional signaling molecule involved in plant growth regulation and stress adaptation. Recent studies have revealed that melatonin plays a pivotal role in shaping root system architecture (RSA) by ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Fine Mapping of QUICK ROOTING 1 and 2, Quantitative Trait Loci Increasing Root Length in Rice

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2018
The volume that the root system can occupy is associated with the efficiency of water and nutrient uptake from soil. Genetic improvement of root length, which is a limiting factor for root distribution, is necessary for increasing crop production.

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Measuring and Imaging the Soil-root-water System with a Light Transmission 2D Technique

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2019
Improving crops against water deficits requires a better understanding of plant root system functioning. This requires a better knowledge of the water uptake process and to address the influence of root system architecture or root physiological ...

Study of root growth in relation to shoot phenology in a date palm, Phoenix dactylifera in San Remo (Italy) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The date palm Phoenix dactylifera L. plays since ages a lead role in both human and animal nutrition in the Mediterranean area. Its growing is mainly connected with the date production, but in Europe and in other continents it is wide spreadly used as an
