MicroRNAs Mediated Plant Responses to Salt Stress

open access: yesCells, 2022
One of the most damaging issues to cultivatable land is soil salinity. While salt stress influences plant growth and yields at low to moderate levels, severe salt stress is harmful to plant growth.

Biomass allocation to leaves, stems and roots: meta-analyses of interspecific variation and environmental control.

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2012
We quantified the biomass allocation patterns to leaves, stems and roots in vegetative plants, and how this is influenced by the growth environment, plant size, evolutionary history and competition.

The New EURODAC Regulation: Fingerprints as a Source of Informal Discrimination

open access: yesBaltic Journal of European studies, 2015
The EURODAC Regulation establishes the database of the fingerprints of asylum seekers. In 2015, the new EURODAC Regulation came in force and some basic concepts that were not in the previous regulation have been changed.

No Support for the Neolithic Plant Invasion Hypothesis: Invasive Species From Eurasia Do Not Perform Better Under Agropastoral Disturbance in Early Life Stages Than Invaders From Other Continents

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Pre-adaptation to disturbance is an important driver of biological invasions in human-altered ecosystems. Agropastoralism is one of the oldest forms of landscape management.

Different Responses of Soil Bacterial and Fungal Communities in Three Typical Vegetations following Nitrogen Deposition in an Arid Desert

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
The effects of increased nitrogen (N) deposition on desert ecosystems have been extensively studied from a plant community perspective. However, the response of soil microbial communities, which play a crucial role in nutrient cycling, to N inputs and ...

p-adic variation of unit root L-functions [PDF]

open access: yesPacific J. Math. 288 (2017) 129-156, 2015
Dwork's conjecture, now proven by Wan, states that unit root L-functions "coming from geometry" are p-adic meromorphic. In this paper we study the p-adic variation of a family of unit root L-functions coming from a suitable family of toric exponential sums. In this setting, we find that the unit root L-functions each have a unique p-adic unit root.

Assessing the Effects of LULC Change on Landslide Hazards in Rwanda

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Geography, 2022
Landslides have become important environmental hazard in hilly regions of Rwanda such as Nyabihu district. They are characterized by the downslope movement of debris or other earth materials which damage or destroy everything found in their ...

Carbon input by roots into the soil: Quantification of rhizodeposition from root to ecosystem scale

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, 2018
Despite its fundamental role for carbon (C) and nutrient cycling, rhizodeposition remains ‘the hidden half of the hidden half’: it is highly dynamic and rhizodeposits are rapidly incorporated into microorganisms, soil organic matter, and decomposed to ...
