Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery Based on an Adaptive Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition
The vibration based signal processing technique is one of the principal tools for diagnosing faults of rotating machinery. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD), as a time-frequency analysis technique, has been widely used to process vibration signals of ...

On the Rotating Vortex Rope and Its Induced Structural Response in a Kaplan Turbine Model
The rotating vortex rope, which can be decomposed in the rotating and the plunging modes, is the origin of pressure fluctuations in the draft tube cone when hydraulic turbines operate at part load, compromising the structural integrity and limiting the ...

Dual Measurement Mode Rotational Viscometer [PDF]
A novel dual method concept to widen the viscosity measurement range of magnetic actuation and sensing based viscometer is presented. A phase slipping detection is used for high viscosities, while fluids with low viscosities are studied by applying a step-stress and detecting early stage strain oscillations.

ROTATIONAL SPLITTING OF PULSATION MODES [PDF]
Mode splittings produced by uniform rotation and a particular form of differential rotation are computed for two-dimensional rotating 10 Mo ZAMS stellar models. The change in the character of the mode splitting is traced as a function of uniform rotation rate, and it is found that only relatively slow rotation rates are required before the mode ...

Relativistic Correction to the r-mode Frequency in Light of Multimessenger Constraints
The r -mode oscillations of rotating neutron stars are promising candidates for continuous gravitational-wave (GW) observations. The r -mode frequencies for slowly rotating Newtonian stars are well known and independent of the equation of state (EOS ...

Counter-rotating eddy pair in the Luzon Strait [PDF]
Based on satellite remote-sensing observation data and Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) re-analysis data, we studied the counter-rotating eddy pair in the Luzon Strait (LS). Statistical analysis reveals that when an anti-cyclonic mesoscale eddy (AE)

The r-modes of rotating fluids [PDF]
An analysis of the toroidal modes of a rotating fluid, by means of the differential equations of motion is not readily tractable. A matrix representation of the equations in a suitable basis, however, simplifies the problem considerably and reveals many of its intricacies.
