Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

TacScope: A Miniaturized Vision‐Based Tactile Sensor for Surgical Applications
TacScope is a compact, vision‐based tactile sensor designed for robot‐assisted surgery. By leveraging a curved elastomer surface with pressure‐sensitive particle redistribution, it captures high‐resolution 3D tactile feedback. TacScope enables accurate tumor detection and shape classification beneath soft tissue phantoms, offering a scalable, low‐cost ...

Stiffness after Rotator Cuff Repair
2021Postoperative stiffness after rotator cuff repair can be functionally debilitating and lead to significant patient dissatisfaction. Both non-modifiable and modifiable patient risk factors can play a role in the development of significant postsurgical stiffness.

Knee muscle contributions to joint rotational stiffness
Human Movement Science, 2012The purpose of this paper was to investigate total joint rotational stiffness (JRS) and relative muscle contributions to JRS with varying extensor moment demands. It was hypothesized that greater co-activation of the flexors at lower levels of moment would result in greater JRS, relative to moment demands.

Stiffness and retear are 2 common complications of rotator cuff repair. McNamara et al found that postoperative stiffness was associated with lower retear rates at 6 months. This study aimed to determine if stiffness after rotator cuff repair protects the individual from retear up to 9 years after surgery. Two groups of patients, 69 with stiff and 63 ...

Rotational laxity and stiffness of the radiocarpal joint
Clinical Biomechanics, 1996OBJECTIVE: To investigate the constraint and potential mechanism of torque transmission across the wrist joint. DESIGN: In vitro experiment using human cadaveric specimens. BACKGROUND: Transmission of torque from the forearm to the hand requires rotational stability at the wrist.

Prediction of Shoulder Stiffness After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair
The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 2021Background: Postoperative shoulder stiffness (POSS) is a prevalent adverse event after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) that is associated with major limitations in everyday activities and prolonged rehabilitation. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose was to develop a predictive model for determining the risk of POSS within 6 months after primary ...
