Computational Investigation of Blade–Vortex Interaction of Coaxial Rotors for eVTOL Vehicles

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In the design of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles, coaxial rotors have garnered significant attention due to their superior space usage and aerodynamic efficiency compared to standard rotors.

The Terminal Domains of Collagen‐Like Silk Direct Molecular Interactions and Liquid–Liquid Phase Separation‐Mediated Material Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal domains of recombinant collagen‐like silk regulate hierarchical self‐assembly across molecular and material scales. We show that terminal domains of collagen‐like silk enhance triple‐helix stability and drive liquid–liquid phase separation, enabling reversible formation of fibers and self‐healing films.

Investigation of a Vertically Offset Rear-Rotor Quadrotor Configuration for Aerodynamic Interference Mitigation

open access: yesDrones
The deployment of multi-rotor drones in applications such as package delivery and urban air mobility is increasingly prevalent. Aerodynamic interference between rotors in traditional quadrotor drones impairs performance, and vertical offset is a ...

Graphene Nanosheet‐Based Mixed Proton‐Electron Conducting Membranes for Efficient Hydrogen Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A monolayer graphene/phosphoric‐acid mixed proton‐electron conducting membrane combines proton‐conducting nanoconfined acid channels with electron‐conducting graphene nanosheets for efficient high‐temperature hydrogen purification. The membrane achieves nearly 100% H2/CO2 selectivity and 69 GPU hydrogen permeance at 250°C, arising from synergistic ...

Aerodynamic Performance of Quadrotor UAV with Non-Planar Rotors

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The mobility of a quadrotor UAV is significantly affected by its aerodynamics, especially when the closely spaced rotors are applied in the multi-rotor system.

Compressor and fan wake characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes
Approaches for developing an analytical model capable of determining the effects of rotor flow and blade parameters and turbulence properties (i.e. energy, velocity correlations, and length scale) on the rotor wake characteristics and its diffusion ...

Fish schooling as a basis for vertical axis wind turbine farm design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Most wind farms consist of horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs) due to the high power coefficient (mechanical power output divided by the power of the free-stream air through the turbine cross-sectional area) of an isolated turbine.

High‐Throughput Exfoliation of Optoelectronic‐Grade MoS2 via Turbulent‐Flow Wet Jet Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable wet jet milling exfoliation method is demonstrated for producing optoelectronic‐grade MoS2 nanosheets using environmentally friendly ethyl cellulose in ethanol dispersion media. Guided by fluid dynamics modeling, this approach is optimized to achieve record‐high exfoliation throughput and concentration.

Magnetic field control [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A torque control for an electromechanical torquing device of a type where a variable clearance occurs between a rotor and field is described. A Hall effect device senses the field present, which would vary as a function of spacing between field and rotor.

Mapping Nanoscale Protein‐Corona Kinetics of DoE‐Optimized Perfluorocarbon Encapsulated‐PLGA Nanoparticles by In Situ, Time‐Resolved Synchrotron SAXS

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐phase workflow (OFAT screening followed by central composite design) maps how processing variables tune PFCE‐PLGA nanoparticle size, dispersity, surface charge, loading, and 19F‐MRI signal. In situ, time‐resolved synchrotron SAXS tracks albumin‐corona growth on intact dispersions and reveals PFCE‐dependent adsorption pathways.
