Design and Experimental Validation of a Ducted Counter-rotating Axial-flow Fans System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
An experimental study on the design of counter-rotating axial-flow fans was carried out. The fans were designed using an inverse method. In particular, the system is designed to have a pure axial discharge flow.

Impact of PVDF Homo and Copolymer on Thiophosphate Solid Electrolyte Characteristics and Comprehensive Bulk‐To‐Surface Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study examines how a PVDF‐like binder affects the argyrodite Li6PS5Cl electrolyte properties. Using an approach that combines bulk and surface characterization with electrochemistry, we found a chemical interaction between Li6PS5Cl and PVDF, resulting in partial chlorine substitution by fluorine and slightly reduced ionic conductivity.

Unsteady loads for coaxial rotors in forward flight computed using a vortex particle method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent advances in coaxial rotor design have shown benefits of this configuration. Nevertheless, issues related to rotor-head drag, aerodynamic performance, wake interference, and vibration should also be considered.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

On the Classification of Universal Rotor-Routers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The combinatorial theory of rotor-routers has connections with problems of statistical mechanics, graph theory, chaos theory, and computer science. A rotor-router network defines a deterministic walk on a digraph G in which a particle walks from a source

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Fully 3D‐Printed Wave‐Wound Electromagnetic Motors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work presents the first fully 3D‐printed wave‐wound electromagnetic motors, which are created using conductive nanoparticle inks, carbon‐filled nylon polymers, and surface mount components. These motors can achieve a stall torque of 7.62N·mmA−1$7.62 \nobreakspace N{\cdot }mm A^{-1}$ and efficiency of 28.2 %, which approaches the performance of ...

Different options for multi-rotor wind turbine grid connection

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Here, different options for integration of the multi-rotor wind turbine (MRWT) concept are investigated. The intra-turbine collection network of the MRWT can be designed in either AC or DC. The reliability and costs associated with each connection option

Natural Frequency of Rotor with Rotor Core.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1991
A rotor core of induction motors consists of many multilayered steel sheets for core which are fixed to a shaft with a shrinkage fit. A bending vibration of rotors with such a rotor core is investigated experimentally. It is shown that the rotor can be modelized by an opening of the multilayered steel sheets and a equivalent Young's modulus of the ...

Chameleonic Color‐Variable Microbead Emitters for Multilevel Spectroscopic Encryption from Visible to Infrared Wavelengths

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Whispering‐gallery‐mode microresonators with sharp resonant peaks enable photonic barcoding. Similar to a chameleon, a rare‐earth‐free microcavity with π‐conjugated PAHs enables visibleto‐near infrared color generation from a single microbead. The unique resonat emission (spectral barcode) can be dynamically transformed via excitation wavelength change,
