Helicopter tail rotor thrust and main rotor wake coupling in crosswind flight

open access: yes, 2010
The tail rotor of a helicopter with a single main rotor configuration can experience a significant reduction in thrust when the aircraft operates in crosswind flight. Brown’s vorticity transport model has been used to simulate a main rotor and tail rotor

Finite element analysis of rotors

open access: yes, 1977
A finite element formulation for the natural vibration analysis of tapered and pretwisted rotors has been presented. Numerical results for natural frequencies for various values of the geometric parameters and rotational speeds, have been computed for ...

PSMA8‐Containing 20S Proteasome Regulates Spermiogenesis and Male Fertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PSMA8 assembles s20S proteasome that degrades specific substrates in elongating spermatids. Degradation of s20S‐substrates activates translation of FXR1‐target mRNAs, which are essential for mitochondrial sheath formation and sperm morphogenesis.

Space modulation profile modelling for steer-by-wire SMPMSM

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This paper presents a sensorless estimation algorithm for steer-by-wire applications based on the injection of a high-frequency rotating voltage. Enhancement to the basic sensorless algorithm through SMP look-up tables is proposed.

Enzymatic DNA Reaction Networks for Orchestrating Stimuli‐Dependent Temporal Molecular Pulse

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present an enzymatic DNA reaction network (EDRN) that encodes nucleic‐acid targets in time, converting inputs into a universal strand and then into programmable transient fluorescence pulses. With time‐color multiplexing, EDRN enables single‐tube high‐plex nucleic acid detection and shows strong agreement with clinical sequencing across 32 specimens.

Stand-alone excitation synchronous wind power generators with power flow management strategy

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2014
This study presents a stand-alone excitation synchronous wind power generator (SESWPG) with power flow management strategy (PFMS). The rotor speed of the excitation synchronous generator tracks the utility grid frequency by using servo motor tracking ...

A Bioinspired Three‐Dimensional High‐Curvature Nano‐Interface Integrated Microfluidic Chip for Small Extracellular Vesicles Enrichment and Machine Learning‐Assisted Prostate Cancer Precision Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biotin‐modified artificial insertion peptide functionalized three‐dimensional high‐curvature‐TiO2 nano‐interface was engineered in a microfluidic chip to improve the isolation efficiency of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs). This chip balanced affinity, releasability, and extendibility, enabling high‐throughput recovery of sEVs for downstream ...

Fault-tolerant matrix-converter-controlled IPMSM-drive system using a predictive controller and sliding-mode estimator

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study proposes a fault-tolerant matrix-converter-controlled IPMSM-drive system, in which a predictive speed-loop controller and a predictive current-loop controller are implemented to improve its dynamic responses, including transient responses and ...

Orienting coupled quantum rotors by ultrashort laser pulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We pointed out that the nonadiabatic orientation of quantum rotors, produced by ultrashort laser pulses, is remarkably enhanced by introducing dipolar interaction between the rotors.
