Series Expansions Immune to Round-Off Errors for the Transition Function Used in High Frequency Electromagnetic Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
A series expansion is given for efficient computation of an integral that is called transition function F(x) in the high frequency electromagnetics literature or Fresnel integrals in the optics literature. It is obtained as a limiting case of some series

Keeping your eye on the rail: gaze behaviour of horse riders approaching a jump. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The gaze behaviour of riders during their approach to a jump was investigated using a mobile eye tracking device (ASL Mobile Eye). The timing, frequency and duration of fixations on the jump and the percentage of time when their point of gaze (POG) was ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Robust Inference after Random Projections via Hellinger Distance for Location-Scale Family

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
Big data and streaming data are encountered in a variety of contemporary applications in business and industry. In such cases, it is common to use random projections to reduce the dimension of the data yielding compressed data. These data however possess

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Automatic Estimation of Verified Floating-Point Round-Off Errors via Static Analysis

open access: yes, 2017
This paper introduces a static analysis technique for computing formally verified round-off error bounds of floating-point functional expressions. The technique is based on a denotational semantics that computes a symbolic estimation of floating-point ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Developing a Boundary Point Method Algorithm for Solving Linear Programming Problems with Feasible Initial Solution [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی, 2019
In this research, SALCHOW algorithm has been developed to solve linear programming problems. In each step SLACHOW moves towards the constrained gradient of the objective function, so that it always remains within the feasible region.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
