Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

A case study on multi-lane roundabouts under congestion: Comparing software capacity and delay estimates with field data

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2016
Existing studies on modern roundabouts performance are mostly based on data from singe lane roundabouts that are not heavily congested. For planners and designers interested in building multilane roundabouts for intersections with potential growth in ...

Nanomaterials to microplastics: Swings and roundabouts

open access: yesNano Today, 2017
In recent years, the testing of nanomaterials during their use in products has been increasingly emphasized, as this will provide a more realistic risk assessment (RA) compared with RA based on pristine nanomaterials. We show that (i) using such an approach for a “realistic” RA is increasing the complexity of the RA, (ii) several testing-aspects render

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Research, Analysis and Evaluation of Roundabouts Constructed in Lithuania

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2010
It was in the year 2001 when Lithuania first started constructing roundabouts on the rural roads of national significance with the heavyweight transit traffic and creating conditions for sustainably safe traffic. A data of statistical analysis shows that

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Estimation of Air Pollutant Emissions in Flower Roundabouts and in Conventional Roundabouts

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering, 2013
Abstract The road pollutant emissions, above all in urban context, are correlated to many infrastructural parameters and to traffic intensity and typology. The research work on road junction geometry, carried out in European research centres, has recently allowed to design new road intersection types which are of undoubted interest, especially in terms
