Roy Bhaskar, o fundador do realismo crítico, faleceu no dia 19 de novembro de 2014.  Nascido de uma mãe inglesa e de um pai indiano, Ram Roy Bhaskar cresceu em Londres e foi para a Universidade de Oxford. Defendeu seu Ph.D. em filosofia, sob a orientação de Rom Harré.
