ENGENDER NANDA Guideline: Ensuring Gender inclusion in NANDA‐I. A Delphi Study

open access: yesNursing Open, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To develop a guideline for the integration of the gender perspective in the use of NANDA‐I nursing diagnoses. Design The Delphi technique was used in order to reach consensus between two groups of experts: (a) in nursing diagnoses and (b) in gender, thus allowing us to draw up the guidelines to include the gender perspective in the three ...

Engineering a protein homodimer from a heterodimer: A chimeric DBHS protein

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Drosophila behavior/human splicing (DBHS) proteins are involved at nearly every stage of the RNA lifecycle. There are three paralogues in mammals—SFPQ, NONO and PSPC1—which form both homodimer and heterodimers. It is likely that the non‐redundant and overlapping roles of the different DBHS paralogues emerge from their dynamic and combinatorial

Trait variation driven by tree size more than environment and shows limited translation to species vital rates

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 10, Page 3302-3317, October 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Functional traits are expected to predict vital rates and performance outcomes because they mediate how organisms interact with the environment. However, trait‐based models often have poor predictive power for tree species survival and growth.

Maternal glycaemia and child educational attainment at age 5 in the Born in Bradford cohort

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, Volume 43, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Aims There is emerging evidence that maternal hyperglycaemia may be associated with adverse offspring neuro‐behavioural outcomes, which are foundational to educational success. We hypothesised that higher levels of maternal glucose would be associated with poorer educational attainment in early childhood.

Serum GFAP and Age Accurately Distinguish AQP4‐IgG Positive and Double Seronegative NMOSD From MOGAD After a Recent Attack

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
After a recent NMOSD attack, serum GFAP and age together provide a simple and powerful way to distinguish AQP4‐IgG NMOSD from MOGAD and related disorders. In 240 patients evaluated within 90 days of an attack from a 640‐patient cohort, this combination achieved high diagnostic accuracy (AUC up to 0.95).
