Utilisation of multipath phenomenon to improve the performance of BCH and RS codes

2016 8th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CEEC), 2016
In wireless communication, there exists a phenomenon know as ‘multipath’. This phenomenon is considered as a disadvantage because it causes interference. The multipath phenomenon results in an antenna receiving two or more signals from the same sent signal from different paths.

Implementation Architectures and Applications of RS Codes

1999
Some basic concepts of the RS codes and various encoding and decoding algorithms are discussed in Chapter 6. In this chapter, certain implementation architectures for RS codes are examined and compared. Also to further demonstrate the power of RS codes certain important applications of are introduced in this chapter.

Reed-Solomon(RS) Coding Gain on Correlated Rayleigh Fading

2019 IEEE AFRICON, 2019
This paper investigates the effects of channel coding in correlated fading channels using Reed-Solomon (RS) codes. The bit error probability performance of RS is carried out by considering binary phase shift keying (BFSK) modulation in correlated Rayleigh Fading channels.

On the rank of LDPC matrices constructed by Vandermonde matrices and RS codes

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2006
We calculate the rank of low-density parity-check (LDPC) matrices based on Vandermonde matrix like constructions. In the case of prime fields the rank is given exactly. We show that LDPC codes based on RS codes are a special case of the Vandermonde based construction, thus also for these LDPC matrix construction, the rank caculation is valid.

Successive-erasure decoding of RS codes and error detection for ARQ

Ninth IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (Cat. No.98TH8361), 2002
Successive-erasure decoding can be considered as a soft-decision decoding technique for RS codes. An information indicating the success of decoding is needed when forward error correction is combined with ARQ. We present an upper bound for error detection with a successive-erasure decoding algorithm.

On the concatenation of LDPC and RS codes in magnetic recording systems

2007 IEEE Globecom Workshops, 2007
In this paper, we investigate the sector failure rate (SFR) and the burst-error correction capability of two coding solutions in magnetic storage systems. The two-level solution involves concatenating an outer RS code with an inner LDPC code whereas the one-level solution is an RS-only or an LDPC-only system.

RS-Coded MPSK Schemes for Fading Channels

1994
In Chapter 5, the design and performance evaluation of the Trellis-Coded Modulation (TCM) schemes were presented for fading channels. In this chapter the issue of using Block-Coded Modulation (BCM) schemes, as a counterpart to trellis-coded modulation schemes, is addressed. Specifically, we combine Reed-Solomon (RS) codes with Multi-Phase Shift-Keying (

A Distributed Storage Algorithm Based on Cauchy RS Code

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Data fault tolerance is a key technology in the field of distributed storage. In this paper, an algorithm to encode massive amounts of data and then distribute storage these data on each node in the data center is proposed, aiming at coping with the serious challenges in the protection of data fault tolerance.

Analysis for RS-coding and fountain-code for erasure coding

Applied and Computational Engineering, 2023
This research provides an in-depth analysis of RS-coding and fountain-coding for erasure cod-ing, focusing on the different circumstances that data storage may face during daily usage. The essay outlines the fundamental information of RS-code and fountain-code, and com-pares their effectiveness in addressing varying degrees of erasure in the data disk.

JointDesign of RS Coding and Byte Interleaving in CMMB System

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
RS codingandbyte interleavingin CMMB systemare jointly designed based on segment processing mechanism. The proposed scheme reduces storage space so greatly that byte interleaving can be completed inside a popular FPGA chip instead of a largeexternal memory, leading to lower cost, faster speed and higherreliability. Moreover, contraposeto the segment ...
