Reflection tolerance of RSOA-based WDM PON

The downstream signal is likely to have severe reflection tolerance (-42 ~ -35 dB), which highly depends on the RSOA gain.

We report on a polarisation independent S-band RSOA for WDM-PON applications for the first time. Operation at 1.25Gbit/s over the entire S-band is demonstrated in TO-packaged devices with a path loss capability of ≫25dB.
