Fuzzy rule interpolation for multidimensional input spaces in determining d50c of hydrocyclones

open access: yes, 2003
Fuzzy rule-based systems have been very popular in many engineering applications. In mineral engineering, fuzzy rules are normally constructed using some fuzzy rule extraction techniques to establish the determination model in predicting the d50c of ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

The role of classifiers in feature selection: Number vs nature

open access: yes, 2008
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.Wrapper feature selection approaches are widely used to select a small subset of relevant features from a dataset.

Using multiple and negative target rules to make classifiers more understandable

open access: yes, 2006
[Abstract]: One major goal for data mining is to understand data. Rule based methods are better than other methods in making mining results comprehensible.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Advances in classification of EEG signals via evolving fuzzy classifiers and dependant multiple HMMs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Two novel approaches to the problem of brain signals (electroencephalogram (EEG)) classification are introduced in the paper. The first method is based on a modular probabilistic network architecture that employs multiple dependant hidden Markov models ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...
