Gas Ionization by Runaway Electrons
Russian Physics Journal, 2002A description of the development of a runaway electron avalanche in helium is presented. It is demonstrated that the ionization coefficient α approaches a steady-state value αst even in a very strong field. The dependences of α and αst and also of the transient length of αst on the field strength in the transient region are obtained. The experimentally

Runaway electron transport via tokamak microturbulence
Physics of Plasmas, 2009The mechanisms found for the magnetic transport of fast ions in the work of Hauff et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 102, 075004 (2009)] are extended to the diffusion of runaway electrons. Due to their smaller mass and larger energy, they behave strongly relativistically, for which reason the scaling laws defined previously have to be modified.

Runaway electron control in FTU
2014Experimental results on the control of the runaway electron (RE) horizontal position and the RE current ramp-down in FTU are presented. It is shown how the cold plasma, whose position can be detected by the scanning interferometer sensor, closely envelopes the RE beam.

Runaway electron diagnostics in FTU
2016Runaway Electrons (REs) are beams of electrons within a tokamak plasma, accelerated to velocities close to the speed of light. They represent a major concern in tokamaks because they are lost to the first wall, resulting in significant local energy deposition, local melting and damage of plasma-facing components.
