Field performance of transgenic Russet Burbank and Lemhi Russet potatoes
American Potato Journal, 1994Transformed Russet Burbank and Lemhi Russet clones which contained three different transgene constructs were evaluated for performance under field conditions in Idaho. The transgenic lines were characterized over two growing seasons, using plants grown from both greenhouse produced minitubers (first year) and field grown seed (second year).

THE ORIGIN OF RUSSETING IN THE GOLDEN RUSSET APPLE
Canadian Journal of Research, 1937About the time of full bloom, many epidermal cells divide by a tangential wall. Later in June all the epidermal cells become vacuolated and some divide again by tangential walls forming a layer varying from two to four cells thick. Early in July a cambium is initiated in the innermost cells of epidermal origin.

Suppression of PLRV Titer in transgenic Russet Burbank and Ranger Russet
American Potato Journal, 1995Potato varieties Russet Burbank and Ranger Russet were transformed with a cDNA version of the 23 kD coat protein cistron (CP) of the potato leafroll virus (PLRV) using anAgrobacterium-mediated procedure. Clones were assayed for presence of thenpt- II and CP genes by Southern analysis, for expression of CP mRNA by Northern analysis, and for presence of ...

Journal of Industrial Hemp, 2003
Abstract The hemp russet mite Aculops cannabicola (Farkas) is a little-known but potentially dreadful pest. It primarily feeds on leaves, petioles, and meristems. The mites quickly spread between plants grown in proximity. They cause a curling of leaf edges, followed by leaf russeting.

Norgold Russet and Norgold Russet strain M — additional evidence for genetic dissimilarity
American Potato Journal, 1995Potato improvement through strain selection has been under-exploited and sometimes discredited by plant breeders, even though successes, such as Russet Burbank, have been recognized. For years, seedsmen have rogued out “off-types” in order to maintain varietal purity.
