Virulence and Genetic Diversity of Puccinia spp., Causal Agents of Rust on Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) in the USA

open access: yesPathogens
Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) is an important cellulosic biofuel grass native to North America. Rust, caused by Puccinia spp. is the most predominant disease of switchgrass and has the potential to impact biomass conversion.

Unstated contributions: how artistic inquiry can inform inter-disciplinary research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Since 1990, many creative disciplines, such as art, design and performance, have engaged increasingly with academic research. Accompanying this has been a good deal of interest in ways to employ their professional and creative practices as instruments of

Media Framing of Financial Mechanisms for Resolving Human–Predator Conflict in Namibia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The decline in carnivore populations is largely exacerbated by lethal methods used to reduce livestock depredation. Financial mechanisms are designed to limit lethal control by reducing the cost of depredation. The media can affect how the general public

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Physiological, Biochemical, and Molecular Mechanisms of Resistance of Poacynum hendersonii to Melampsora apocyni

open access: yesPlants
The rust disease caused by Melampsora apocyni seriously affects the growth of Poacynum hendersonii. However, the defense mechanisms against rust infection remain unclear. This study explored the regulatory mechanisms of P. hendersonii in response to rust

Effects of exogenous silicon on antioxidant capacities in sub-cellular fractions of asparagus bean seedlings under rust stress

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2010
The effects of exogenous silicon (Si) on antioxidant ability of two asparagus bean cultivars, ZN016 (highly resistant) and Zhijiang 282 (susceptible), were investigated at sub-cellular level (cytoplasm, chloroplast and mitochondria) under rust (Uromyces ...

How do programmers use unsafe rust?

open access: yesProc. ACM Program. Lang., 2020
Rust’s ownership type system enforces a strict discipline on how memory locations are accessed and shared. This discipline allows the compiler to statically prevent memory errors, data races, inadvertent side effects through aliasing, and other errors ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.
