Fault Detection Structures of the S-boxes and the Inverse S-boxes for the Advanced Encryption Standard

Journal of Electronic Testing, 2009
Fault detection schemes for the Advanced Encryption Standard are aimed at detecting the internal and malicious faults in its hardware implementations. In this paper, we present fault detection structures of the S-boxes and the inverse S-boxes for designing high performance architectures of the Advanced Encryption Standard.

An analytical approach to s-box generation

2012 International Conference on Communication and Signal Processing, 2012
This paper presents the construction of symmetric and asymmetric substitution boxes using an analytical approach. The objective of this work is to generate s-boxes that meet the Strict Avalanche Criteria (SAC) that are non-linear and have a high degree of resistance to differential cryptanalysis.

Replacement and Structure of S-Boxes in Rijndael

2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008
This paper describes the designation and structure of S-boxes which are the fundament of the Rijndael algorithm and finds the optimization of them using four kinds of testing methods. Firstly, it constructs different S-boxes by Matlab using 30 irreducible polynomials the maximum power of which is eight in a finite field.

Parity Prediction of S-Box for AES

2006 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2006
In this paper, we present the parity prediction approach of the S-Box for designing high performance and fault detection structures of the AES. Unlike the traditional scheme which is based on using look-up tables, we use the logical gates implementation based on the composite fields for fault detection of S-Box in AES.

S-BOX Architecture

2018
Substitution-Box (S-BOX) is the most critical block in the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, consumes 75% of total power during encryption. The primary idea to implement S-BOX is to have a unique byte substitution. In this paper 4 different architecture of SBOX discussed; (a) look-up table or ROM based S-BOX contains a pre-computed value ...

S-Box Design

2020
Substitution boxes are central to symmetric ciphers. Many introductory cryptography books do not provide adequate coverage of this topic, in many cases no coverage at all. This is unfortunate, as s-boxes provide the primary source of nonlinearity in many symmetric ciphers.

Merging the Camellia, SMS4 and AES S-Boxes in a Single S-Box with Composite Bases

2015
For some block ciphers such as AES, substitution box S-box based on multiplicative inversion is the most complex operation. Efficient constructions should be found for optimizing features like the area, the amount of memory, etc. Composite representations in finite fields are the prominent ways to represent the multiplicative inverse operation in a ...
