Abstract Upon harvest, potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers enter a dormant state and do not sprout even under favorable conditions. Early dormancy break causes tuber spoilage and reduces postharvest quality. Common sprout control methods may compromise tuber quality, raise health and environmental concerns, and increase costs.

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Uganda
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the likelihood of pest freedom at entry in the EU, including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, potentially associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Uganda.

Abstract Gametophytic self‐incompatibility (GSI) is a reproductive strategy to prevent inbreeding and promote outcrossing. Studies to understand molecular and evolutionary aspects of the self‐compatibility (SC)/self‐incompatibility (SI) system in the Solanaceae have been conducted using several genera including Petunia Juss., Nicotiana L., and Solanum ...

Summary Resistance of different potato clones (dihaploids and tetraploids) shoot tips to dehydration and to cooling in liquid nitrogen was obtained after encapsulation in alginate beads, preculture in medium without hormons using high sucrose concentration, dehydration and direct cooling to −196°C. Two preculture methods were proposed.
