Diffraction‐based determination of single‐crystal elastic constants of polycrystalline titanium alloys

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 1144-1156, October 2019., 2019
The single‐crystal elastic constants of polycrystalline titanium alloys have been determined using neutron and synchrotron powder diffraction.Single‐crystal elastic constants have been derived by lattice strain measurements using neutron diffraction on polycrystalline Ti‐6Al‐4V, Ti‐6Al‐2Sn‐4Zr‐6Mo and Ti‐3Al‐8V‐6Cr‐4Zr‐4Mo alloy samples.

Fire Protection of Steel Beam by OSB Claddings—A Fire Experiment and Numerical Models

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 196-214, March 2025.
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of a standard fire resistance test of a loaded steel beam in a horizontal furnace. The beam was tested in three configurations: (1) unprotected, (2) protected with a single 22 mm layer of oriented strand board, and (3) protected with a double layer of the same cladding.

Influence of the jet velocity on the weld quality of magnetic pulse welded dissimilar sheet joints of aluminum and steel Einfluss der Jetgeschwindigkeit auf die Schweißnahtqualität magnetimpulsgeschweißter Blechverbindungen aus Aluminium und Stahl

open access: yesMaterialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 965-973, August 2019., 2019
Abstract The object of this investigation is to determine the influence of the jet velocity on the weld quality of sheet joints produced via magnetic pulse welding. The use of a suitable high‐speed camera system enables to observe the jet in detail, to determine its velocity during the collision process and to compare them to the achieved qualities ...

Toward Continuous Electrochemical Synthesis of Ferrate

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 20, 2025.
Ferrate synthesis using sacrificial iron anodes is studied at technical current densities. Anode passivation is overcome using spheroidal graphite cast iron as anode. A novel electrolysis cell allows the installation of rod‐shaped anodes with a combined surface area of 230 cm2.

Multiphysics Model of an MR Damper including Magnetic Hysteresis

open access: yesShock and Vibration, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Hysteresis is one of key factors influencing the output of magnetorheological (MR) actuators. The actuators reveal two primary sources of hysteresis. The hydro(mechanical) hysteresis can be related to flow dynamics mechanisms and is frequency‐ or rate‐dependent.

A STUDY ON PREDICTION OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND CUTTING TOOL TEMPERATURE AFTER TURNING FOR S235JR STEEL

open access: yesKonya Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2019
In machining technologies, the most important criterion taken into consideration when evaluating the product quality is seen as the surface roughness. In the consideration of production quality and cost, tool wear is one of the factors that directly affect the cost of production.

Material Selection of Tanks for Storage and Transport of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers: A Lightweight and Lifecycle Assessment Comparative Study of Metal, Polymer, and Composite Alternatives

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2025.
Material selection of tanks for storage and transport of a liquid organic hydrogen carrier is investigated. Three materials are compared: metals (steel), polymers (thermoplastic), and composites (glass fiber‐reinforced plastic). Criteria for selection relies on compliance to existing design standards, lightweight, and CO2 emissions.

Application of Self‐Diagnosis and Self‐Repair on a Truss Prototype That Adapts to Loading Through Shape Morphing

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This paper presents experimental testing of self‐diagnosis and self‐repair strategies on an adaptive truss prototype that counteracts the effect of loading through shape morphing. The prototype is a simply supported spatial truss with a span of 6 m and is equipped with 12 linear actuators.
