Des bêtes pleines à Athéna ? Un sacrifice pas si étrange

open access: yesPallas, 2016
Some reflections on the sacrifices of pregnant animals to Athena, and more precisely to Athena Skiras, in her sanctuary at Phaleron (sacrifice accomplished by the genos of the Salaminioi), and to Athena Polias in Cos (a divinity closely associated with ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Sacrifice and Natality: Surrogacy Structures

open access: yesOpen Theology
In this article, I begin to unpick the complex relationships between birth and sacrifice, taking my cue from the strange surrogacy structures in the textual triptych Genesis 21-23 (the expulsion [“sacrifice”] of Ishmael and Hagar, the surrogate mother ...

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

Performances rituelles et expression des hiérarchies sociales dans la Grèce de l’âge du Fer

open access: yesPallas, 2018
In Homeric epics, the consecration by fire of the bovine, caprine and ovine bones is presented as a religious performance carefully theatralized: each actor taking place in the chosen space for the ceremony has a specific role to play following a ...

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.
