Complex relations and modifications of visibility. Ceremonial pits and sacrificial stones among the Huichols

Cahiers d'anthropologie sociale, 2015

Charge-transfer complexation between methyl viologen and sacrificial electron donors EDTA, triethanolamine, and cysteine

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1984
Methylviologen dication (MV/sup 2 +/) forms charge-transfer (CT) complexes with EDTA, triethanolamine (TEOA), and cysteine (Cys) in aqueous solution. The complexes of EDTA and TEOA show enhanced tail absorption from 320 nm well into the visible region; the Cys complex shows a discrete absorption band in the 350-380-nm region.

Electrosynthesis of thiocyanato and mixed ligand thiocyanato complexes of transition metals by the sacrificial dissolution of metal anodes

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1992
A general method for the electrosynthesis of anionic and mixed ligand nonelectrolytic thiocyanato complexes of transition metals has been developed by the oxidation of sacrificial metal anodes in aqueous, or aqueous ethanolic, medium containing ammonium thiocyanate at room temperature and at an applied potential of 2–7 V. The method is rapid and gives

Colloidal semiconductors in systems for the sacrificial photolysis of water: sensitization of titanium dioxide by adsorption of ruthenium complexes

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1986
Adsorbed tris(2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium(II) molecules (Ru/sup II/(acid)/sub 3/) sensitize the production of H/sub 2/ that occurs when Pt/TiO/sub 2/ dispersions are illuminated with visible light in the presence of EDTA as sacrificial electron donor.

Print your membrane: Rapid prototyping of complex 3D-PDMS membranes via a sacrificial resist

Journal of Membrane Science, 2015
Abstract Polydimethylsiloxane is a translucent silicone material present in most lab-on-a-chip devices. In membrane technology, polydimethylsiloxane provides a separation barrier for various applications such as oxygenation, vapor recovery and nanofiltration.

Vitamin B12 model complex catalyzed methyl transfer reaction to alkylthiol under electrochemical conditions with sacrificial electrode

Dalton Transactions, 2009
Catalytic methyl transfer reactions from methyl tosylate to 1-octanethiol catalyzed by heptamethyl cobyrinate perchlorate, [Cob(II)7C(1)ester]ClO(4), were investigated under electrochemical conditions. As a model study for the cobalamin-dependent methyl transfer reaction from methyltetrahydrofolate to homocysteine, controlled-potential electrolyses ...

Sacrificial Anode Retrofits: Innovative Solutions for the Challenge of Deepwater and Other Complex Marine Environments

CORROSION 1997, 1997
Abstract Offshore oil and gas platforms, pipelines and marine structures are most often cathodically protected with sacrificial anodes, which require periodic replacement. Rising costs associated with traditional diver-placed retrofits have necessitated development of surface and remotely operated vehicle (R.O.V.) deployed systems ...
