Engineered assistive materials for 3D bioprinting: support baths and sacrificial inks
Biofabrication, 2022Abstract Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is a promising technique for spatially patterning cells and materials into constructs that mimic native tissues and organs. However, a trade-off exists between printability and biological function, where weak materials are typically more suited for 3D cell culture but exhibit poor shape ...

Tritium Contamination Prevention Using Sacrificial Materials
Fusion Science and Technology, 2017AbstractTritium is produced by irradiating Tritium Producing Burnable Absorber Rods (TPBARs) in a Commercial Light Water Reactor at the Tennessee Valley Authority Watts Bar Reactor 1. The TPBARs are manufactured with strict materials specification for contaminants for all of the components.

Development of Freeze-Form Extrusion Fabrication With Use of Sacrificial Material
Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2014The development of freeze-form extrusion fabrication (FEF) process to fabricate three-dimensional (3D) ceramic parts with use of sacrificial material to build support sections during the fabrication process is presented in this paper. FEF is an environmentally friendly, additive manufacturing (AM) process that builds 3D parts in a freezing environment ...

Aerosols over melts of a corium–sacrificial materials system
Glass Physics and Chemistry, 2016The behavior of a melt of a UO2–ZrO2–SiO2–Fe3O4–CaO–Al2O3 system that is formed in the case of the dilution of corium (a melt of a UO2–ZrO2–Zr system) with sacrificial materials (a mixture of aluminum and iron oxides with Portland cement) has been studied. It has been found that, as a result of the evaporation of oxides, spherical aerosol particles are

Lithographic Characteristics and Thermal Processing of Photosensitive Sacrificial Materials
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2002Previously, a novel method for fabricating microfluidic and microelectromechanical devices with buried microchannel structures using thermally sacrificial polymers was reported. These previous methods required separate lithographic and etching sequences to pattern the sacrificial polymer.

Photoinitiation systems and thermal decomposition of photodefinable sacrificial materials
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003AbstractThe exposure characteristics of norbornene‐based photosensitive sacrificial materials as functions of the photoinitiator have been investigated. The results show that the initiator, bis(2,4,6‐trimethylbenzoyl)‐phenylphosphine oxide, provides high photosensitivity and an adjustable contrast factor.
